February 2019 Recap
Can a month be long and short at the same time? Because that's how February felt to me. I'm just ready for March and for spring to get here so I can wear tank tops again. And all the cute dresses I keep finding at work (the curse of working at a clothing store).
What I Did
• Got sick. Again. But this time it was a stomach bug followed by a cold, so it not fun. And I got sick the day we were having my pastor and his family over too, so I couldn't enjoy visiting with them. 😔
• Celebrated Valentine's Day by watching the new Grinch movie (very loving, I know). Benedict's Grinch was one of the nicest and I loved the dynamic between him and Max. But overall it was a pretty good day.
• Went to a chocolate festival at the American Indian Museum with my dad. It was impromptu, but fun. I tried Mexican hot chocolate and decided never to drink that again. (So spicy.)
• It may be a silly thing to mention, but I also found out that Crayola sells boxes of 100 colored pencils, so I got myself some. There are so many colors it makes my heart happy. I have them all carefully organized into rubber banded sets of colors. (They also have sets of 100 markers, so that's next on the wishlist.)
• Overall, I feel like February was kind of a crappy month. Not the worst, but it could have been better. I'm sure you know the feel. That's kind of why I'm ready for February to be over.
What I Read
I read a few less books this month, mostly because I was working my way through Little Women and it's a big book. *checks Goodreads* Oh, wait, I was wrong. I read more than last month, but five were comic books or graphic novels, so they don't take as much time.
The Language of Spells- Garret Weyr (4 stars)
Xander and the Lost Island of Monsters- Margaret Dilloway (4 stars)
Mirage- Somaiya Daud (3 stars)
Masks- Kelly Thompson (5 stars)
Nimona- Noelle Stevenson (5 stars)
Holes- Louis Sachar (4 stars)
The Icebound Land- John Flanagan (5 stars)
Anchor Points- Kelly Thompson (4 stars)
The Magic Words- Cherly B. Klein (4 stars)
Little Hits- Matt Fraction (4 stars)
29 Dates- Melissa de la Cruz (4 stars)
L.A. Woman- Matt Fraction (3 stars)
The Bullet Journal Method- Ryder Carroll (4 stars)
What I Watched
The Grinch (see above)
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (so intense and so good)
The Devil Wears Prada (an interesting movie with some thought provoking themes)
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (not quite as good as the first one and all the boys looked the same, but still fun)
The Dragon Prince, season 1 (technically we finished this season. I just wish the episodes had more happening in them)
On the Blog
• My sister and I did a guest post exchange which turned out to be one of my most popular posts this month. If you haven't read her post yet, what are you waiting for?
• My most exciting thing this month was reaching 100 Instagram followers! Yay! *throws confetti everywhere* I've been considering doing a giveaway soon, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I was super excited about that.
Writing
I've finished reading through New Magic and am now starting the first round of editing. I feel like the story has good bones, which is nice, but there is still plenty of work to do. Characters to change, chapters to add, things to debate on whether or not to remove. I also let my sister read it (under the knowledge that it was a totally unedited draft) and she had a great reaction to it, so that made me happy.
(I also had a concept for a new story, but I am not going to write it right now. Especially because it needs a lot of time to kick around in my mind and develop.)
Art
Still haven't done a lot. I'm working on practicing drawing hands at the moment, so I've been doing that a lot, but I've been pretty busy otherwise. I really need to find some new projects to work on.
However, I did create this this month. I was inspired by getting my own Lego porg, so I proudly present the Avengporgs.
March Thoughts
• My goal is to finish round one of editing on New Magic by the end of March. Which means I need to make a precise plan and stick to it if I'm going to accomplish that.
• I have a video experiment I want to try next month and I'm not sure how it will come out. We'll see. *looks around mysteriously*
• I really need to do something fun in art again. Not sure what yet. I may also take a break from my art book for a month so I can do that.
How was your February? Do anything fun? What was the last movie you watched? Tell me in the comments!

OH MY WORD, THE AVENGPORGS. I LOVE THEM. XD Congrats on getting 100 followers!!! That's awesome!!! And colored pencils are the best. <33 The last movie that I watched was the 2004 Disney Squanto movie. It was pretty good. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I didn't know that Disney made a Squanto movie, so I'll have to look that up. His story is fascinating.
