October 2020 Recap
I feel like I've said this every month, but where has 2020 gone? We only have two months left. I'm not one of those people who think that as soon as the calendar changes to January all this will be over, but it would be nice if the world finally saw sense and moved on. So far, it doesn't seem likely, but you never know.
What I Did
• Started my job search. I updated my resume and I've applied for one thing, but no word yet. I'm praying that God would show me the way and help me find a good job. I want to leave my current workplace before December, which doesn't give me time.
• Got to go to the Outer Banks! My family pooled our funds to head down for three days and enjoy ourselves. It was super fun. We got to go to the beach, see some lighthouses, and just have fun.
• And then, only a day after we got back from North Carolina, we got news that my great-uncle had died and we would have go to South Carolina for the funeral. I didn't know him well, but my dad was close, so we headed back out after two days. It has been crazy (I wrote this post on the car on the way back), but it was good to see some family I haven't seen in a long time, and meet my cousin's adorable daughter.
• Celebrated Reformation Day with my church. There was a bonfire, food, and singing. It was lots of fun and it made things feel a bit more normal again.
• To be honest, I've been feeling a bit down this month about all this virus stuff. I just wish it would all stop. I can't understand why people can't see what a hoax it is. But I continue to pray that God would life this judgment from us and have mercy. And that he would continue to give me strength.
Read
The Fellowship: The Literary Lives of the Inklings- Philip and Carol Zaleski (4 stars)
Death on the Nile- Agatha Christie (5 stars)
The Witches- Roald Dahl (4 stars)
My Calamity Jane- Cynthia Hand, Brodie Ashton, and Jodi Meadows (3 ½ stars)
The Supervillain and Me- Danielle Banas (4 stars)

Watched
The Cat Returns (hilarious and one of my new favorite Studio Ghibli)
Addams Family Values (quite fun)
The 4th Doctor's first season (so enjoyable. Why does no one ever talk about how great Harry is?)
Alita: Battle Angel (pretty cool and good, until the ending)
War of the Worlds (still not close to the book, and a lot scarier)
Writing
I've been frantically preparing for NaNoWriMo the whole month. I feel like I've barely had time for anything due to how busy I've been. I don't feel prepared at all, even though I have all the important stuff ready, like my outline and character arcs. I just hope NaNoWriMo goes well.
On the Blog
• I sent my first monthly newsletter. If you haven't signed up for that, don't forget you can do so any time by using the form in the sidebar.
• My most popular post this month was a plea for movies to use real teenagers. I was kind of surprised by how passionate others felt on the topic.
Art
Since it is Inktober, I decided to try and do three drawings a week, mostly working on drawing my mermaids I created during mermay. I started by following the prompts, and since then have delved on my own path. I have also not kept up a lot with that the last couple weeks, but that's to be expected. Below I have dumped all my drawings for your enjoyment.
November Thoughts
• I obviously hope to win NaNoWriMo for the sixth year. Fingers crossed things go well.
• I pray that I would find a new job this month. I really want to get out of the one I'm currently in.
• I guess I'll also have to start working on my Christmas shopping. How is already almost Christmas time? Holidays just don't feel real this year.
How was your October? Did you do anything fun or Halloween related? Tell me in the comments.
