If You Like: Halloween Edition

Halloween is right around the corner. In the past, I've given various book and movie recommendations, so I thought this year I'd combine the two. I'll have a few of my favorite Halloween movies and give you a book recommendation based on it. Maybe you'll find something new to enjoy.

If you like...Coraline

Gallant by V. E. Schwab

Like Coraline, Gallant features a girl moving to a strange new house that has dark secrets. It features high stakes, shadow creatures, and a mute protagonist.

If you like...Hocus Pocus

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken

This book is also set in Salem, but involves demons instead of witches. A young boy finds out he's attached to a demon to the pleasure of neither. It has a similar humor style to Hocus Pocus.

If you like...Knives Out

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Both stories are about an unexpected person inheriting a large fortune and have to solve a mystery to find out why. But if Knives Out doesn't have enough cute boys for you, the Inheritance Games has four. It's a fun time.

If you like...ParaNorman

100 Cupboards by N. D. Wilson

Spooky other worlds. A young boy protagonist. Plus, as the name suggests, one hundred cupboard doors. It might be written for kids, but it'll send chills down your spine.

If you like...The Addams Family

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

If you like weird found families, Miss Peregrine's is for you. It also includes monsters, time travel, and ladies that can turn into birds.

Have you read or watched any of these? Do you have a Halloween book rec based on any of these movies? Tell me in the comments.
