December Recap+Blogiversary!

December Recap+Blogiversary!

Hey, everyone! I just wanted to pop on here and put up a post for two reasons. 1) I wanted to do a December recap before we got too far into January and B), no 2) it's the fourth anniversary of my blog!

When I started blogging, I didn't know that I would enjoy it so much, or discover so many great people. I did it to have a place to get my voice out in the world and maybe build some readers for my books someday. But I'll talk about all that more in a minute, after we do some recaping of December. I might do something, too.

December Recap

What I Did

• Went to an awesome Christmas fair in DC. It was right next to one of the museums and had the coolest (if expensive) vendors. I want to go again next year so I can try the delicious looking churros they had. It also had a guy blowing glass right there, so that was cool.

• Saw the Botanical Gardens train display again. This year the theme was train stations. Not as stunning as some former years, but still fun.

• Went to B.I.G. (Books for International Goodwill) in Annapolis. They sell books for dirt cheap and use the proceeds to send books to kids around the world. I got seven books for $15, and one was a graphic novel and one was a hardcover.

My haul from B.I.G.

• Had a nice Christmas with my family. I read at our Christmas Eve service and then we watched the Santa Clause before bed. Things were a little different this year due to work and moving, but I still had a great day and am thankful for all we did get to do.

• Caught up on a bit of reading after NaNoWriMo. I read ten books and finished re-reading the Heroes of Olympus series.

• December was pretty hectic for me, and I didn't get as much done as I wanted to. I didn't do much art, but I did get in some good piano practice. Speaking of, my sister and I posted a Christmas video on our channel- Mary Did You Know. (Go watch it immediately.)

• I also had two guest posts go up last month. One on Mycreants, all about five essentials for an opening scene. And the other on Barely Hare Books, about creating a novel soundtrack.

January Thoughts

• It's January. Cue the post-holiday depression and thinking up goals for 2019. I hope to avoid depression this year, though, which would be nice. And I've already done my 2019 goals, but you won't hear about those until my next post.

• I want to get back into drawing more. I started a painting a few months ago as well which I would also like to finish.

• I'm going to start editing something. I don't know what yet, I haven't gotten that far, but I need to get back to writing and creating. My break was nice, but now I'm ready to work.

Blogiversary!!!

Four years ago to the day I posted my first blog post. It was a simple introduction to my blog and has many sentiments that still hold true for me today. Back when I started R's Loft, I had barely graduated high school, had no idea where my life was going, and just wanted a place to share my thoughts and ideas. Today I have a job, have the tiniest bit more of an idea where my life is heading, and have more of focus for my blog.

To everyone who reads these posts, I just want to say thank you. Whether you're new to the blog and this is the first post you're reading, or have been following me from the beginning (*waves*"hi, Mama!"), I'm so happy that you've chosen to sit down and read what I have to say. I love every comment you leave saying when my posts have helped or inspired you.

I wanted to do something fun for this, so I decided I'd try a Q&A. I know I've talked before about myself on here, but you might have burning questions I haven't answered. My favorite ice cream. Best Avenger. Reading habits. Anything you want to ask (within reason of course). So you'll find a Google form below where you can send me questions and sometime in the next week or two, I'll answer them. Don't forget to add your name!

If I don't get enough questions, then I'll think of something else fun to do, but I know you have things you want to know, so ask away.

Thank you all once more and here's many more years of happy blogging.

How did your December go? What did you do for Christmas? If you have a blog, how long have you had it? Tell me in the comments.
